Marty Haws

Marty Haws grew up in Midvale, Utah. This is where his life-long passion for sports took root. Throughout Marty’s journey, athletics has played an integral part in his life.

Marty is regarded as a top individual skills basketball trainer for players of various skill levels and backgrounds. At Anthem Prep, he brings a wealth of experience, commitment, and invaluable insights.

Since 2013, Marty has played an important role in the transformation of the Mountain Stars Basketball program. Under his guidance, the program (U15, U16, U17) currently is part of the Boys Under Armour Association (UAA).

As a devoted, hands-on parent, Marty instilled a deep love and respect for sports and its life lessons in his three children. The oldest, Tyler, was an All-American and all-time leading scorer in Brigham Young University (BYU) history (20th leading scorer in NCAA history). Tyler went on to play for five years professionally. Marty’s next son, TJ, was part of a high school team (Lone Peak High School, 2013) that won the MaxPreps National Championship. TJ is BYU’s all-time leader in consecutive games started. He is second in assists and seventh in scoring all-time at BYU. TJ was CoSida third-team Academic All-American as a senior. Marty’s only daughter, Gabriella, enjoys college while Playing volleyball (setter) at Northwest Nazarene University, majoring in Business.

Between the three kids, they secured nine high school state championships (six in basketball and three in volleyball) at Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah.

Marty excelled in multiple sports while at Hillcrest High School in Midvale, Utah. He was the Deseret News State MVP in basketball and football his senior year (largest classification). Additionally, Marty played center field for two state championship baseball teams and was a 100-meter state champion in track and field in his junior and senior years.

In college, Marty played basketball (first-team all-conference) and ran track (fifth in 100 meters) on BYU teams that both won conference championships (WAC). After college, Marty played professional basketball in Belgium (1990-93).

Throughout his professional career, Marty has been involved in several successful technology companies. He has also created the successful podcast Blood, Sweat & Sports Parenting.  

Marty’s wife and best friend, Tiffanie, met in college and were married in 1988. Tiffanie has played an equally important role in raising and teaching their three children how sports can help them in all aspects of their lives.
